Thanks to A. Star and Xpresso Book Tours for letting me be a part of the tour!

 My Thoughts
Dream of Me was my first read of 2016 and it did not disappoint, although there were parts of the book that frustrated me.

I had a hard time liking Glory in this book. In Wish For Me she was a kick-ass chick but in this she drove me quite insane. She'd do something dumb telling herself she knew just how wrong it was but would do it anyways, and then turned right around, and would admit that she should have never done what she just did in the previous chapter. I can understand the occasional screw-up but it felt never-ending this time around. I was also bothered by how Glory and Irving's relationship seemed to blow up so often, they were very back and forth with each other.

Now, having said all that I did enjoy Dream of Me. I adore A. Star's books, and they are pretty fast reads. I loved the steampunk creations, and Irving's airship (so awesome), and Qazi the pilot was a fun new addition to the story. It's hard to say a lot about the story itself without giving anything away but it's like nothing else I've read.

Overall, Dream of Me was a great read. A little frustrating for me (I have a hard time liking female MCs sometimes) but a fun read. It has plenty of adventure, and romance, there's even an Irving chapter too (I love male POV), and the ending was pretty bad-ass. So, if you're a fan of fantasy and romance I definitely recommend this series for you.

Excerpt
I sighed in defeat, rose and flung the rest of my clothes over a chair before climbing back into bed. Irving watched my every movement and then when I was settled, he slid under the covers with me and tangled our legs together as he pulled my body against his.
“Are we still angry with each other?” he asked.
“I was never angry with you.” Irving made a face. “Okay, maybe I was. But I’m not now. Hell, I let you bang me in public today! I think we’re good.”
Irving laughed. “Your exaggerations of life are always so entertaining, my love.”
“I try.”
“But I want you to know that I am not angry with you either. I really do understand why you feel the way that you feel and I accept it. I could parade you around in front of my kind and try to solicit their love for you, but it would be false. And in the end, you would hate me, you would hate who you are, and I do not want that for you. So if for now is all we have, then I will treasure every moment until the day we are no more.”
I didn’t want to cheapen his words by adding any of my pointless ones to what he said. So we just lay in silence for a while and let the gentle sway of the airship lull us.

Excerpt
“What is all this stupid shit?” I mumbled, pulling out moth-eaten linens, gaudy knick-knacks, and old, dusty books with strange symbols.

“Mementos of a life well-lived and well-traveled,” Elena replied as she rummaged through a box of shit I was sure was trash but she seemed to think was treasure.

I had to admit that Old Addie had seemed to be overly content with her life, even if she was a mean hag. She had regrets, just like any person, but she was happy and always talked about how “normal living” was underrated. Whatever the hell that meant. Looking around, nothing in my grandmother’s basement spoke to normalcy. Everything I saw only confirmed what I already knew: Old Addie was bat-shit crazy.

“The hell…” I pulled out a bag of rodent skulls, rodent skulls, from a beaten up box labeled “Safe Keepings.” Old Addie was looking battier by the second. With a sound of disgust, I tossed the bag aside.

“Now this is more like it.” My next find was a burgundy bowler hat complete with a ribbon and feather. I blew at some of the dust covering the hat, then slid it down over my ash-blonde pixie cut. I turned to show Elena, but she had been roped into an argument with my mom over what to do with some dishes they’d found.
Turning back, I grabbed my backpack and tossed the hat inside, already dreaming up an ensemble to go with it. Now eager to find more treasures, I dove back into the box. I found a ratty old purse, a busted speaker with no cord, and a cracked boomerang before I discovered the jeweled treasure buried at the bottom of the box.

It was a vase. No, it was more than a vase, but the hell if I knew what it really was. It was shaped like a vase, with a long, thin neck and a wide, round bottom. Colored jewels–real or not, I didn’t know–sparkled all along the rim of the vase’s opening and along the base. In between lay a network of tiny antique gears that all seemed to be connected in some way, like they could be powered to make the vase actually dosomething. After further inspection, I found a small key hole near the top of the vase’s neck, fueling my suspicions.

With a surge of excitement, I turned the dusty box upside down and shook it. Sure enough, a key dropped out and hit the cement floor with a tiny cling.

I grabbed the key up and tried it out on the keyhole in the vase. It was a perfect fit. I moved to turn it, but not wanting mom or Elena to try and claim my find, I held off. I didn’t know what would happen if I turned the key, and if it was something cool, or terrible, I wanted to be alone when it happened. So I shoved the vase in my bag beside the bowler and swore the second I was back at my place, I was turning that damn key.

 Excerpt
With an angry flick of his wrist, a swirling cloud of purple and gray appeared before us. If I had been questioning whether magic was real, whether Irving was real, it was no longer up for debate.

Irving reached into the cloud and pulled out a tiny device. It looked like one of those old-timey fountain pens with a crystal vial in the center of the brass frame. He flicked his wrist again and the cloud disappeared.

“Give me your hand,” Irving commanded. With a huff, I did as he ordered, even though I wanted to remind him that I was the master and was supposed to be giving the orders. Not him.

“You son of a bitch!” I hissed as Irving pricked my finger with the point of the pen thingy. “What did you just do?” I sucked on my finger to dull the sting.

“Only your blood knows the truth.” Irving held the pen up and we watched as that tiny drop of my blood somehow coated the entire vial, then turned blue. I swore that surprise flickered across his expression, but it was gone so fast, I couldn’t be sure it was ever there at all.

“What is that thing?” I questioned. I already despised Irving, but my curiosity was a bitch and made me ask.

“It is a verity-meter.” When it became clear that he should try speaking English, he said, “It is a lie detector.”

“A lie detector?” I frowned. “Why do you need that? What do you think I lied about?”

“Nothing.” He slipped the verity-meter into a pocket of his duster. “Now, make your wishes.”

Lover, Divine is on sale for $.99 March 17-22!

My Thoughts
"Fate is one scary bastard."
Lover, Divine is a contemporary Greek mythology story which takes place twenty-odd years before Diantha's Oracle of Delphi series and it tells the story of how Siobhan Law and Apollo (major player in the OOD series) met and fell in love. From the beginning there is no denying that Apollo wants Siobhan who is part of an Influential family, mortals who know of the Greek gods and help with their earthly affairs.
Star's writing kept me hooked as it always does whether it's one of her young adult books or adult and the tension between Siobhan and Apollo is HOT! I also love anything to do with Ireland so with Lover, Divine being set in Ireland and those beautiful accents, I was definitely in love. Music also plays a huge part in the book since Apollo is a musical genius and Siobhan a whiz at the violin and my favorite, the drums.
It's hard to say a lot about the story because for readers who haven't read the Oracle of Delphi series, I could give away some spoilers but the ending is so sweet! You OOD fans know what I'm talking about...
Overall, Lover, Divine was a lovely story. Siobhan is a tough and loving character who isn't willing to take any crap from anyone and Apollo is his smug and gorgeous self as always. The setting and scenes between them are perfect and the input to the Oracle of Delphi books was interesting.

Favorite Quotes
“You are fated to me and I will have you. That, my Irish darling, you can bet your pert and proper ass on."

"I was in love. With Apollo, with the music, with the universe."
